Abstract

For some of us, perhaps most of us, scientific conferences are an opportunity to travel and meet with colleagues and friends supported by our academic work. However, among so many existing options and not many resources, we have to decide which conferences we will attend, both internationally and nationally. For those of us who work with mammals in Latin America, this year, 2024, was full of events such as the IV Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Bats held in Cusco, Peru, the eighth Tapir Symposium of the Tapir Specialist Group of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, in Campo Grande, Brazil, and the VI Latin American Congress of Mammalogy, held in Santiago, Chile, to mention a few. At the national level, the V Colombian Congress of Mammalogy was held in Yopal, Casanare and the Second Colombian Congress of Bioacoustics and Ecoacoustics, an event that also brings together scholars from the mammal group.
