Resumen
Callithrix aurita, un primate endémico de la Mata Atlántica, es una especie amenazada debido a la pérdida de hábitat, deforestación, competencia interespecífica e hibridación. En 2018, entró en la lista de las 25 especies de primates más amenazadas del mundo, por lo tanto, los nuevos sitios de presencia deben ayudar en su conservación. Entre marzo de 2020 y enero de 2021 se realizaron transectos en el Parque Natural Municipal de Montañas de Teresópolis y muestreos ocasionales en los caminos aledaños, usando playback. Se realizaron once nuevos registros de la presencia de la especie en y alrededor del Parque, en bosque secundario con altitudes entre 711 y 1000m. Estos registros refuerzan la importancia del Parque para la conservación de este primate. La presencia de esta especie puede ayudar la planificación y manejo de esta área protegida, indicando áreas de preservación.
