Abstract
In 2026, the book “Armadillos, Anteaters, and Sloths (Xenarthra) of the Department of Caldas: Know, Recognize, and Conserve” was published and presented at the 38th Bogotá International Book Fair. From the moment it was announced on social media, this work sparked admiration and enthusiasm, demonstrating that more and more researchers and professionals are dedicating their efforts to the study and conservation of xenarthrans in Colombia. These species represent one of the oldest and most emblematic groups of mammals in the Americas, with unique evolutionary characteristics and fundamental ecological roles within Neotropical ecosystems (Vizcaíno & Loughry, 2004). However, despite their biological and cultural relevance, popular science and technical publications specifically focused on this group are still scarce in the country. In this context, the book makes a significant contribution to both scientific dissemination and the conservation of these species.
