SCOPE AND NATURE
Mammalogy Notes - Mastozoological Notes (MaNo), the official journal of the Colombian Society of Mammalogy (SCMas), arises from the need to promote spaces for the dissemination of mammalogy in Colombia and the region. MaNo allows the publication in Spanish or English of scientific notes on natural history and inventories of mammalian species, as well as relevant aspects of their biology, to communicate knowledge that has no place in traditional mammozoological publications. Therefore, the journal seeks to complement other existing periodical publications, so as to promote the dissemination of knowledge about the mammals of Colombia and the region.
Target audience
Mammalogy Notes is aimed at researchers and specialists in different areas of biology, ecology, archaeology, engineering, natural and applied sciences. Many of the published works can serve as a reference and consultation for professionals and university students in general.
Mammalogy Notes is fully open access and do not charge for the submission, processing, or publication of articles or for accessing its platform. Mammalogy Notes uses a double blind peer review system for all its articles. The journal is published twice a year, the first number in June (January to June) and the second in December (July to December), however it is transitioning to a continuous production format. Mammalogy Notes has made a significant effort to support manuscript construction, editing, and adjustment, as well as promote young scientists who contribute to the development of mammalogy in the region.
Code of Ethics: Mammalogy Notes subscribes to the criteria established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) www.publicationethics.org. The authors are responsible for the authorship of the articles submitted to the Journal. Authors who incur in plagiarism (partial or total reproduction of content that is not cited), will not be able to publish again in the Journal. To guarantee originality and respect for the copyright of other researchers, the articles that aspire to be published in the journal will be submitted to review through anti-plagiarism programs such as Plagiarism.
Types of contributions
Notes - The notes are the main axis of Mastozoological Notes and will consist of observations, field data and any brief, empirical contribution related to mastozoology. The notes will be divided into the following types: Distribution extensions, Natural history, Inventory of species, Articles, Book reviews and Correspondence
