Resumen

El gato doméstico es una especie invasora que crea serios problemas para la vida silvestre en todo el mundo. Para la región Neotropical existe deficiencia en el conocimiento sobre comportamiento de caza, especies afectadas y otros aspectos que permitan una mejor comprensión de los efectos sobre la biodiversidad local. En este estudio realizamos una aproximación de casos de mortalidad de vida silvestre por gatos domésticos en la Región Caribe Colombiana. Encontramos 107 registros de caza de 31 especies pertenecientes a 24 familias, 12 órdenes y tres clases de vertebrados Amphibia, Sauropsida y Mammalia. Las especies más afectadas corresponden a Cnemidophorus sp (31 casos), Columbina talcopati (16 casos) y Cnemidophorus gaigei (10 casos). Adicionalmente, encontramos un registro de caza de una especie migratoria, Porzana carolina, y dos subespecies de reptiles endémicos de la región del Caribe colombiano, Erythrolamprus melanotus lamari y Ameiva bifrontata divisa. Estos registros se convierten en los primeros reportados para Colombia, advirtiendo por la cantidad y espectro taxonómico del impacto potencial que puede estar generando sobre la vida silvestre y sus servicios ecosistémicos.
